jealous for me

He loves me.

He loves me not.

He loves me.

He loves me not.

He loves me.

He loves me not.

He loves me.

Funny.  No matter how many times I play this game, it always comes out the same.

Watch this:

He loves me.

He loves me not.

He loves me.

He loves me not.

He loves me.

See.  It happened again.  Love never fails.

You’d think I’d learn that lesson, once and for all, and stop playing this game.

Or, at least, you’d think I’d stop being so deeply surprised by the conclusion.  Every time I conclude with “He loves me,” I’m caught off-guard by it.  It’s such a shock to my heart.  He loves me!  Wow!  There I go, swept off my feet again.

I’ll play again tomorrow.  The end of it will be the same.  Every time.

  1. to quote the amazing trevor hall, “why do i question love when it burns so, oh, deep inside my chest? why do i live in fear when i always know i’m under his blanket?”

  2. I heard somewhere that Oprah publicly denied Christianity (to the roaring approval of her fans!) because she just couldn’t believe in a jealous God. From what I understand, her issue was in thinking that God was jealous of her (or at least her actions or success) – or maybe that He was jealous AT her, instead of jealous FOR her. Unfortunate how easy it is to miss the point…
